Open Notify

Open Notify is an open source project to bring digital notifications into the physical world. It has a simple LED light that can be turned on or off by a computer. Anything that can be monitored by a computer can be attached to the light!

Use Open-Notify to build a desk lamp that lights up when the next bus comes by, or when an asteroid streaks past the earth. Born out of a simple idea from science hack day SF 2010 it has evolved into an open source project with funding from kickstarter.

ISS Notify

Did you know the International Space Station flies over your head many times every day? The International Space Station (ISS) is an internationally-developed research facility constantly inhabited with astronauts. And what’s more amazing than six humans flying twenty five times faster than the speed of sound 350 km above your head doing science?

The first project with Open-Notify is a desk lamp that lights up every time the ISS is overhead! ISS Notify is a simple light and electronics that can be programmed with ISS pass times. It will light up and pulse whenever the station is somewhere in the sky where you are.

Featured by NASA and many technology news sites it is a fun way to keep in touch with the space program. Learn more about it here on the site!
